Chief Scout's Award

The Chief Scout's Award is the highest award a Scout can earn in the Scout Section. Unlike the other Progressive Awards where a Scout progresses to the next stage based on his age and an evaluation of his personal development, the Scout must complete set requirements to earn this Award. The Award is intented for those Scouts who have excelled through the other Awards and are looking for a further challenge to develope and demonstrate that excellence. The Chief Scout's Award is usually presented by the Chief Scout, H.E. The Governor General, at the national Founder's Day Service.

To earn the Award Scouts must successfully complete 17 requirements in the areas of Scoutcraft, Adventure, Culture, Community, Health, Commitment, Local Knowledge and Leadership. He must also earn a new Proficiency Badge and complete a Personal Project. The Chief Scout's Award is the culmination of the training received in the Scout Section and the first steps into his next adventure – Venture Scouting.
